For three years now since 2022, WAiV ~ Woodstock Volunteers Day Committee, as part of its mission, has provided scholarship/awards in order to honor our volunteers, and to demonstrate that our community values the volunteer spirit.
Graduating Seniors from each school who meet the criteria below can be selected to receive one of the scholarship awards. Three (3) scholarship awards of $100 each are given to students in each of the local high schools.
WAiV hopes and plans to increase the value of the awards as donations are received toward this program.
Personal Qualities:
To a graduating senior who demonstrates kindness, compassion and generosity of spirit toward others in the community.
Eligibility:
A graduating high school senior:
- Who is a family member of a volunteer, or
- Who lives in a household with a volunteer, or is part of a relationship in which a parent, sibling, etc is in a relationship with a volunteer.
Applications:
Can be picked up at your Principal’s Office, Guidance Counselor’s Office, downloaded from your school’s scholarship program or download from this WAiV website. (Be sure to use the application for the correct high school.) Then submit the application to your school or mail to WAiV.
The scholarship/awards application asks the children of volunteers who are graduating high school seniors to reflect upon their experience living in a family with a volunteer, and what it means to their community that people are generous and kind enough to volunteer to help others.
The mission of the Woodstock Volunteers’ Day Committee is to honor all our volunteers, to enhance the efforts of all our community organizations, to raise awareness about the wide circle of kindness and generosity in our community, and to model for our children that our community values the volunteer spirit.
